    NAME THAT BLOG

    Why "Red Wedding?"

One evening last week I was reading an excellent tutorial on RSS by Amy Gahran, "What are Webfeeds (RSS) and Why Should You Care?" at http://blog.contentious.com/. Gahran explained, "Before you leap into creating your own feed, it helps to know what feeds are like and how people use them." I didn't.

I pole-vaulted to Step. 8, "How to Publish Your Own Webfeed," and found a host in a link to Blogger.com.

"Create your blog in three easy steps!" The instructions were welcoming and simple. I had only to "Create an account" before Step 2, "Name your Blog."

I needed to get the process in motion. This was not the time to think of naming one's first novel, new band, or film, especially at 2 A.M.

An instant decision from a two-word phrase that's been in my mind. My red wedding dress has been hanging over the top of a door for several weeks.

The wedding is a motif. It did happen. It would be coy to say that I wore red, "Bordeaux," for my wedding ceremony only because it flatters me.

I have discovered as I go that hosting a webfeed is not a "turnkey" endeavor, so that content posted thus far has been a means to learn -- how to upload images, enable readers who don't subscribe to Blogger to post/contribute comments, embed direct links to specific books at Amazon.

    More to come.

    Welcome!

TE QUIERO (2) ENGLISH TRANSLATIONS FROM SPANISH

    I LOVE YOU
    by Mario Benedetti

    Your hands are my caress[es],
    my daily reminders
I love you because your hands
    work for justice

If I love you, it's because you are
my love my accomplice and all
and in the street elbow to elbow [arm in arm]
we are much more than two

Your eyes are my spell [charm]
against [slipping into] the evil way/work
I love you for your look [gaze]
that looks [sees] and sows the future

Your mouth that is yours and mine
Your mouth that is not mistaken/does not equivocate
I love you because your mouth
    knows how to shout defiance

If I love you it's because you are
my love my accomplice and all
and in the street elbow to elbow [arm in arm]
we are much more than two

    And for your sincere face
and your vagabond step [wanderer's step]
and your cry [because you weep] for the world
because you are [the] people, I love you.

And because love is not a halo
or a simple moral [lesson of a story]
and because we are a pair
that knows it is not alone

I love you in my paradise
Which is to say [I mean] that in my [ideal] country
    the people [shall] live happily
    even without [getting] permission

If I love you it's because you are
my love my accomplice and all
and in the street elbow to elbow [arm in arm]
we are much more than two

    ANOTHER TRANSLATION

Your hands are my caress, my daily affirmations.
I love you because your hands work for justice.

If I adore you it is because you are my love, my accomplice and everything
and in the street, arm in arm, we are so much more than two.

Your eyes are my lucky charm against misfortune.
I adore you for your gaze that looks to and creates the future.
Your mouth that is yours and mine, your mouth that is never mistaken:
I adore you because your mouth knows how to shout defiance.

And for your sincere face and wandering spirit
and your weeping for the world
because you are the people, I adore you.

And because our love is neither famous not innocent,
and because we are a couple that knows we are not alone.

I adore you in my paradise, which is to say, in my country:
where people live happily even though they don’t have permission.

If I adore you it is because you are my love, my accomplice and everything
and in the street, arm in arm, we are so much more than two.

    Te Quiero - Mario Benedetti

    TE QUIERO

    Tus manos son mi caricia
    mis acordes cotidianos
    te quiero porque tus manos
    trabajan por la justicia

si te quiero es porque sos
mi amor mi cómplice y todo
y en la calle codo a codo
    somos mucho más que dos

    tus ojos son mi conjuro
    contra la mala jornada
    te quiero por tu mirada
    que mira y siembra futuro

tu boca que es tuya y mía
    tu boca no se equivoca
    te quiero porque tu boca
    sabe gritar rebeldía

si te quiero es porque sos
mi amor mi cómplice y todo
y en la calle codo a codo
    somos mucho más que dos

    y por tu rostro sincero
    y tu paso vagabundo
y tu llanto por el mundo
    porque sos pueblo te quiero

y porque amor no es aureola
    ni cándida moraleja
    y porque somos pareja
que sabe que no está sola

    te quiero en mi paraíso
es decir que en mi país
    la gente viva feliz
    aunque no tenga permiso

si te quiero es porque sos
mi amor mi cómplice y todo
y en la calle codo a codo
    somos mucho más que dos
